Ormal - Shetland Islands - Scotland

àl is a gaelic word meaning 'brood, generation, or progeny', so Ormal means 'Orme family'.

The Shetland Islands were settled by Norsemen during the Viking era (9th Century to 11th century), and it appears that an Orme family lived on this particular island.
